Default for this trip: probably no rental. The Cali block is dance-centred (school + socials); neighbourhood hops are easier by app/taxi. Pico y placa also applies weekdays (Renting Colombia).

When a car might help

  • Day trips into Valle del Cauca foothills / toward coffee-adjacent towns if you extend beyond the dance focus
  • One-way drop if combining Cali with a road exit (uncommon for this itinerary)

Long-distance self-drive Cali ↔ Ecuador border and some Pacific corridors are flagged by travelers as higher-risk / higher-stress than the coffee axis — don’t invent a road trip there without current security advice (BESABINE).
