Medellín¶

Goal: practice Spanish in El Poblado-area settings that already fit the dance plan — plus optional short school hours if mornings are free.

DanceFree language exchange (easy stack with salsa)¶

On Thu–Sat, DanceFree runs a language exchange 18:30–20:00 before group dance classes / social (FAQ + calendar notes on the dance page — checked Aug 2026). Same address: Calle 10A #40-27, El Poblado.

Entry prices for the full night (exchange + class + social) are on Dance → Medellín — treat the exchange as the shy-friendly first hour.

Plan at least one Thu–Sat arrival by 18:30 for exchange before dancing.

Toucan Spanish — school + free weekly exchange¶

Toucan Spanish (Medellín + Cali): group/private courses starting any week; site advertises a free language exchange (and dance class) at both schools (checked Aug 2026). Medellín school near Parque Poblado per their hub page.

Meetup listing for the Medellín exchange (confirm still current before going): Wednesdays ~6:00 p.m., free, games + conversation + beginner salsa — Toucan’s Language Exchange (address on Meetup: Calle 9 #43B-71, El Poblado).

Confirm this week’s exchange time/address via Meetup or school WhatsApp before relying on it.

Nomad Spanish (evening classes + nightly exchange)¶

Evening-focused school for people busy by day. Nomad Spanish Medellín (checked Aug 2026):

Group classes 5–7 p.m. daily; levels A1.1–C1; US$85/week or US$299/month (site pricing; groups start Mondays).
Optional language exchange after class (7–11 p.m. on the program list; “until 9:30 p.m.” also mentioned under perks — confirm on arrival).

Good if Medellín nights are free of dance — overlaps DanceFree evenings, so pick nights deliberately.

Elefun — “Survivor” short blocks¶

Survival / Survivor Spanish (checked Aug 2026): conversational city-based blocks aimed at travellers — 1 day (4 h or 6 h) or 1 week (2 h/day). Site lists US$86 (4 h day) / US$129 (6 h day) / US$215 (1-week option). Beginner–intermediate; includes snacks/drinks per duration (per page).

Useful one-shot confidence boost without a full week enrolment. Locations listed on their site include Laureles / Estadio campuses — confirm which campus for the Survivor day when booking.

WhatsApp/email for a 4 h day that does not collide with a priority dance night.

Strategy¶

Default free practice: DanceFree exchange (Thu–Sat) and/or Toucan Wednesday exchange.
One Elefun Survivor day or a Nomad/Toucan private half-day if wanting structured teaching.
Don’t book a full Nomad week unless Medellín dance nights are already covered elsewhere.
