Mexico

Only if Beyond Colombia → Mexico becomes real. Light notes — deepen when dates/cities firm up.

When to rent vs not

  • Mexico City: usually don’t — traffic is brutal; Metro / Uber cover museums + Centro. Day trip to Teotihuacán is often easier as tour/driver than self-drive arrival stress.
  • Yucatán / cenotes circuit (Mérida, Valladolid, ruins + cenotes): a car is useful for hopping clear-water swims without package buses — pairs with Seaside → Mexico.
  • Oaxaca city: walkable centre; car mainly for Monte Albán / day villages.

Providers

  • Localiza now operates in Mexico (incl. major airports such as Mexico City / Cancún as of their 2023 expansion) — same LatAm brand as Colombia, still branch-check reviews (Valor coverage of Localiza Mexico launch).
  • International brands (Hertz, Avis, Budget, Sixt) dominate tourist desks; often pricier.
  • Cabo-style resort markets: travelers warn mandatory local insurance can erase “cheap” web rates — read the voucher (Trustpilot / traveler complaints pattern).

Same pickup discipline as Colombia: full cover, photo walkaround, credit card deposit.
