Brazil¶
Friend-visit candidate — social reason first, tourism second. City / region TBD (changes weather and flight shape a lot).
Note
Italian friend Erika lives in Brazil — that’s the main reason Brazil is on this list. Confirm where she is (and whether late Aug / early Sep works for her) before treating this as a real branch.
Shapes (once city is known)¶
- Southeast hub (São Paulo / Rio / nearby) — easiest international connections from Colombia and onward to London; winter (Southern Hemisphere) city weather in August.
- Elsewhere — Northeast, South, Amazon, etc. need their own weather + flight check; don’t assume “Brazil = Rio beach in August.” Swimming notes: Seaside → Brazil.
Attach to Colombia¶
Colombia → São Paulo / Rio (or her city) → London. Often a clean open-jaw or one-way + separate return. Compare vs Mexico on fare and days left.
Weather in August — good time?¶
Generally yes for the Southeast (São Paulo / Rio) — one of the more comfortable months.
August is Southern Hemisphere winter / dry season for much of the Southeast: milder days, cooler evenings, and among the lowest rainfall of the year in Rio and São Paulo (Guide to Brazil, weather-and-climate.com Brazil August, São Paulo August).
| Area | Typical August feel | Verdict for this trip |
|---|---|---|
| São Paulo | Days ~23–25°C, nights ~13°C, dry / sunny stretch | Good for city + friend time; bring a layer for evenings |
| Rio de Janeiro | Days ~25–27°C, drier than summer; sea cooler than Dec–Mar | Good for city + light beach; not peak beach heat |
| Amazon / far North | Different climate — not automatically “dry and mild” | Check only if that’s where she is |
Bottom line: If she’s in the Southeast, late August → early September is a strong weather window (better than Mexico’s rainy/hurricane coast for the same dates). If she’s elsewhere, re-check before committing.
